RErescue Member Spotlight SHEILA DICKINSON Real Estate Agent | Rescue Pet Hero Through the years we have come across people who are selfless and are truly an inspiration. Shiela Dickinson is one of our amazing RErescue Members and is someone who stands out from the rest! We wanted to showcase how incredible she is in the pet rescue world. Please read on as we’ve shared our conversation below. Hi Sheila, thank you for being a RErescue Member and for joining us today. Maybe we should start with what motivated you to want to join RErescue? Who cannot love a rescue. They KNOW you are trying to help and from my experience are always grateful. RErescue is an excellant idea. You get people who are in a people business together with needy animals and it has got to work. And by the way...we are all animals...they are just cuter and frankly, more dependable. Who can pass that up? How many years have you been a realtor and why do you love real estate? I got into the Real Estate business in 1992. I know that property is the best investment anyone can make and I enjoy helping others not only finding their dream home but increasing their personal wealth and well being, for the present and the future. Have you fostered a rescue or been involved with helping rescues in the past? I am known as the rescue lady in my old neighborhood of Rancho Cucamonga. I picked them up and got them home or made sure they would have a good one. I have adopted several rescues over the years...in particular two Stumpy Tail Austrialian Cattle dogs and a Tuxedo cat. The Cattle dogs I found up in a small Western town in the mountians, Green Valley Lake. They were living cabin to cabin, sleeping under the patios and eating where they could. What a pair. Beautiful personalities but untrained. We fed them, cleaned them up and took them to my large home and garden. They thrived and we called them Rusty and Scoopy. Scoopy would scoop his head under you arm. When my husband passed I made sure they got a very good home in Fullerton. I hear they are very spoiled. Then I moved with my two spoiled pure breeds and a cat I rescued. Checkers, a homeless Tuxedo cat that could jump across a large room and destroy any garden he found himself in. And he found himself in mine. I am constantly rescuing fur balls...I think they know a sucker when they see one. I have rescued at least 16 plus myself. Keeps you busy. What motivated you to want to help rescue pets? I am motivated by they fact that these pieces of life need us to correct what is largely an inequality we created. We bred them to depend on us, serve our needs and do our bidding. We have an obligation to protect them. They are no longer the wolves of their genetic history. It is our duty to see to their welfare. What’s something you have learned about rescue pets since joining RErescue? I have learned that there are some very clever ways to get people to pay attention and help save these wonderful animals. Get peoples attention then show them what they have been missing. Or at least what they can do to help. As a realtor, how does RErescue empower you? This has got to be the BEST way ever to meet others. You are not only some one making a living, you are a caring member of society. You couldn’t pay for better publicity than that. Why do you continue to support RErescue? RErescue needs to grow...the bigger this gets the better. How has joining RErescue changed you? It hasn’t changed me, but it gave me an outlet for my private passion. What’s your vision for the future as a RErescue member? Since I used to be an artist in the commercial world and a lawyer turned Realtor, it would be great to contribute to the wealth and well being of this very wonderful enterprise. RErescue Member Spotlight Candice Uy Real Estate Agent | Rescue Pet Hero Through the years we have come across people who are selfless and are truly an inspiration. Candice Uy is one of our amazing RErescue Members and is someone who stands out from the rest! We wanted to showcase how incredible she is in the pet rescue world. Please read on as we’ve shared our conversation below. Hi Candice, thank you for being a RErescue Member and for joining us today. Maybe we should start with what motivated you to want to join RErescue? My husband and I always believed in adopting since there are so many pets out there that have been given up or got lost. When our kids asked for a dog, we took several trips to SPCA Long Beach. We love how the staff are so friendly and helpful. We saw how they really try to match the pets with the people and how they really care that the pets go to a good home. I was inspired by Brian and really wanted to support him. I didn’t know he was going to nominate me, but I am happy to be part of it, I’m honored! How many years have you been a realtor and why do you love real estate? I’ve been a realtor for A little under 5 years I love working with people and I love being able to help. Some people need help with issues and problems while others, need help to fulfill a dream. My passion is in helping people and this business has allowed me to do just that. Have you fostered a rescue or been involved with helping rescues in the past? Yes, we adopted our dog Mochi, shes a maltese-poodle mix, back in 2015. We got her from the SPCA Long Beach. Mochi was found on the street and when we got her, she wasn’t in the greatest condition. She needed a few surgeries but, thankfully, she’s all well. Mochi has taught our kids how to be responsible, how to love, how to put others first. She has definitely made our family closer. Mochi is very loving and has always given love to friends and family. What motivated you to want to help rescue pets? I think because we, as a family have had a wonderful experience in adopting our pet, I would like to encourage others more to adopt/rescue than to purchase. There are so many, many pets that are given up/lost daily that need a home. What’s something you have learned about rescue pets since joining RErescue? I have heard about the many wonderful projects that RErescue has been organizing, including giving opportunities for kids to do volunteer hours from home (making doggie toys). Such a wonderful gift for people adopting. As a realtor, how does RErescue empower you? I am so new at RErescue, though I’m not sure yet how... I do know that it has allowed me to make new friends who also care for people and pets. I think that in itself is a great start. Why do you continue to support RErescue? Because RErescue has a wonderful mission and the support I/we give go directly to this cause. How has joining RErescue changed you? I have become more aware of the need to reach out, to people to pets and to spread kindness in this way. What’s your vision for the future as a RErescue member? I hope to participate in an event in the future, learn more about RErescue and be able to share it in my own community. FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA
RErescue Member Spotlight Vicki Rolufs Real Estate Agent | Rescue Pet Hero Through the years we have come across people who are selfless and are truly an inspiration. Vicki Rolufs is one of our amazing RErescue Members and is someone who stands out from the rest! We wanted to showcase how incredible she is in the pet rescue world. Please read on as we’ve shared our conversation below. Hi Vicki, thank you for being a RErescue Member and for joining us today. Maybe we should start with what motivated you to want to join RErescue? I owned a bar for 12 years before real estate and always donated and attended my local rescue fundraisers. I was trying to figure out how I could still contribute with my new career, then along came Brian with ReRescue! A national organization with like-minded Realtors across the US. How many years have you been a realtor and why do you love real estate? One, I’m a newbie, but I absolutely love people and I really enjoy helping them with their home journeys. Have you fostered a rescue or been involved with helping rescues in the past? I’ve had rescue dogs for 30 years and they are the best. I really believe they understand somehow that you saved them and work extra hard for your love and appreciation. (which they were going to get anyway) Have you ever adopted a rescue pet? Yes, my rescues were some of my best friends. I have always said if I ever won the lottery, the first thing I would do is buy property and take in all the dogs, give them a home, love, and food. What motivated you to want to help rescue pets? Growing up I always wanted to be a veterinarian, until I realized how long I would have to go to school. HA! The older I got, the more ways i found I could still help. What’s something you have learned about rescue pets since joining RErescue? I learned that you can “foster for just a few days”! And if everyone just fostered a pet for 3 days it would save so many more animals. Teamwork is the key! As a realtor, how does RErescue empower you? I feel that I already talk to so many people all the time and so many of them feel the same way, it’s just another way to educate people on all the little things we do in life really matter. Why do you continue to support RErescue? I want to be a part of Realtors nationwide joining together for a great purpose. How many homeowners have pets? We can all help. How has joining RErescue changed you? The group has made me more aware and also given me great ideas to grow my business. What’s your vision for the future as a RErescue member? I would love to see Rerescue signs and event ads in every state I visit. FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA
RErescue Member Spotlight Amrit Shergill Real Estate Agent | Rescue Pet Hero Through the years we have come across people who are selfless and are truly an inspiration. Amrit Sherfill is one of our amazing RErescue Members and is someone who stands out from the rest! We wanted to showcase how incredible she is in the pet rescue world. Please read on as we’ve shared our conversation below. Hi Amrit, thank you for being a RErescue Member and for joining us today. Maybe we should start with what motivated you to want to join RErescue? RErescue is a great group to be involved with. I still see people out there buying from breeders and even worse puppy mills when millions of dogs and cats are being euthanized in this country. In the developing countries the cruelty is even worse and in Asian countries they eat about 60 million dogs and cats and kill them in horrific ways such as boiling them alive and blow torching them. It’s horrifying and I want to make a difference in helping to save them. How many years have you been a realtor and why do you love real estate? I’ve been a realtor for over 2 years. I love it because it gives me the ability to use my many talents and skills it also gives me tons of freedom. I like to treat people the way I want to be treated and my clients appreciate that about me. I am also a designer and will be flipping my own homes in the near future. Have you fostered a rescue or been involved with helping rescues in the past? I have been helping all animals (not just dogs and cats) for 28 years. I have fostered about 70 cats and dogs possibly more - I lost count! I have volunteered in Tijuana on a few different rescue efforts as well. Have you ever adopted a rescue pet? If yes, please tell us how your rescue pet changed your life in a positive way. Over the last 28 years I have had 12 rescue cats most I rescued myself from the streets and 4 rescue dogs one I rescued off the streets as well. I am an animal lover and they have become my number priority. What motivated you to want to help rescue pets? I have been an animal lover since I was a little girl. I was born this way. I was born being a compassionate soul for animals and want to help save rescue pets. What’s something you have learned about rescue pets since joining RErescue? RErescue makes it easy for me to create new ways to help animals within my real estate business. Why do you continue to support RErescue? Animals will always be my number one priority so I will always support this group. How has joining RErescue changed you? I am highly motivated but it is nice to see what this group is doing and makes it easier for me to either do the same things or create new ways of helping animals as well. What’s your vision for the future as a RErescue member? Open peoples hearts and minds to the needless suffering of dogs and cats and show them ways they can help. FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA
"It Pays to Spay" with Spay-4-LA @ Super-A This event was organized by: Luxe Paws Fitzburgh Realty Team Real Estate Agents to the Rescue (RErescue) A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: GPNC, Urban Pet, Candice Uy (Realtor), Ms. Chris Zegar, and Toland Way Elementary after-school program, and Principal Pais (pronounced "pays"). On Saturday, October 24th The Fitzburgh Realty Team in conjunction with other organizations brought out a mobile surgical unit to the Glassell Park Community and offered FREE spay/neuter surgery. A total of 35 kitties and doggies in our NELA community were spayed and neutered COMPLETELY FREE of charge to their owners. IT TOOK A VILLAGE! So many different people, groups, and companies all came together to make this happen is such a great way. That's what this is all about - bringing community together to support each other and make something great happen! Not only was the surgery FREE, but every participant received a $5.00 gift card from Super A Foods, Goodie bags with treats from The Urban Pet, delicious, home-made chocolate chip cookies from Candice Uy (Realtor), beautiful pet beds that she personally crafted by Ms. Chris Zegar, and doggie toys that were hand-made by students in the Toland Way Elementary School after-school program. And last but not least, The Glassell Park Neighborhood Council (GPNC) donated $3,000 to help make this happen! Fitzburgh Realty Team and Real Estate Agents to the Rescue brought all these different elements together so that the valuable service of spay/neuter could be achieved. We also wanted to say: "THANK YOU for doing the right thing by getting your pet fixed" Would you be surprised to know that spay/neuter is one of the best ways to help reduce the burden on shelters? It reduces the number of doggies and kitties that have to be killed because there are not enough resources available to care for all the pets that are born and cannot find homes. Even if you are able to find family and friends who will adopt your pet's pups and kittens, that means that there are now doggies and kitties at the shelter who will not be adopted and instead will be killed. There was much more demand than could be accommodated so stand by for our next IT PAYS TO SPAY event in Northeast Los Angeles! FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA
RErescue Member Spotlight Simeon Deskins Real Estate Agent | Rescue Pet Hero Through the years we have come across people who are selfless and are truly an inspiration. Simeon Deskins is one of our amazing RErescue Members and is someone who stands out from the rest! We wanted to showcase how incredible she is in the pet rescue world. Please read on as we’ve shared our conversation below. Hi Simeon, thank you for being a RErescue Member and for joining us today. Maybe we should start with what motivated you to want to join RErescue? I loved Kobe my dog that passed away on Christmas Day and I adopted 4 puppies and the love that I had for pets is my main reason and a desire to help many more. How many years have you been a realtor and why do you love real estate? I’ve been a realtor for 19 years I have a passion for helping people reach their dream of Home Ownership and love the relationships I have built over time when helping someone sell and or buy their home. I am grateful and feel very satisfied when someone buys a home thru me. Have you fostered a rescue or been involved with helping rescues in the past? I fostered four puppies after losing my dog Kobe due to cancer and then I adopted all four of them all sisters. I wanted to help out more with the mom and another one of her puppies that was left but the rescue capped me at 4. A loan officer and a friend adopted one of the sisters from me and I have had the other 3 for six months now. I post a lot about pets and animals and a lot of people are reaching out to me to ask questions and learn how to adopt and or rescue. I am new to it all and want to help out as much as possible. My goal is to get a property with 10 or more acres to help take care of many many more. Also, my Kobe [Rotti] found 3 kittens in a park we used to walk in a few times. Someone had abandoned them with a carrier case a bowl of food in the cold rain and I am sure they would not have lasted long with out Kobe’s help. It took us 2 days to get all 3 kittens and had to take one to the vet for some meds. What motivated you to want to help rescue pets? We had dogs and cats growing up. I got Kobe and had him for 7 years until he passed away from cancer all of a sudden. I felt a void and was heart broken and came across information about a rescue getting in 85 puppies from the south and sparked me to help. I believed my puppy Genesis who picked me out is the reason I picked her and 3 of her sisters. Hence the name Genesis. What’s something you have learned about rescue pets since joining RErescue? Still learning more about the organization and felt it is great because of the link to Real Estate Professionals. How we can incorporate the love of pets into our business which is what I want to do as well. Why do you continue to support RErescue? I support good causes and organizations where and when I can. How has joining RErescue changed you? Fulling a purpose and a promise to extend Kobe’s Legacy so that a part of him will always be here with me. He lives on through every other dog and or cat I can help. What’s your vision for the future as a RErescue member? My vision for RErescue is to help with legislation to end puppy mills, animal abuse, eating animals, and etc. FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Today, we bumped into these guys while door knocking in the neighborhood. We came to learn that these brothers found their "love connection" at one of our adoption events in Los Angeles: Eagle Rock Bark 2019. They had an immediate connection so they took him home and named him Oso (which means "Bear" in Spanish). Thank you for saving this adorable fur-baby - you guys ROCK!
